Further back in time
1998-2000
The formative years of what was to become DESQ Ltd. I worked freelance and on my own for a while. Key projects included an Online Learning Pilot for BBC Education (an online learning journey through the BBC Health site); working on early incarnations of BBC WebWise (education advisor for the CD ROM and website); BBC Learning Journeys (developing learning routes from TV to BBC digital content). I also managed to fit in developing community media courses, some teaching, ICT curriculum development and external assessment.
1998
A 6 month secondment with the BBC, writing a feasibility study for BBC Education on the potential for informal adult learning accreditation using BBC Education web content.
1997-98
Developing community ICT projects for Rotherham College's CEDR project, including curriculum development, trying to establish online learning communities and teaching ICT skills to adults.
1993-97
My graftin' years, teaching ICT skills to adult learners in community centres in and around Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Running community media projects, an external assessor for the Open College Network and attempting to manage a team of part-time adult and community tutors.
1989-93
Freelancing here and there on community arts projects, doing youth and community outreach work, whilst working for an charitable arts organisation, specialising in live multimedia events. I cut my multimedia teeth with analogue video and live vision mixing, now grandly called VJing.
88-90
Freelance Photographer & community arts worker. The kind of work you do when you've just left art college.
